About Us

The Phan Foundation was founded by the four children of Padoh Mahn Sha, the General Secretary of the Karen National Union, and Nant Kyin Shwe, in their memory.

The Foundation has four main objectives:

To alleviate poverty
To provide education
To promote human rights
To protect Karen culture

In meeting its objectives, the Phan Foundation will, in particular, focus on young people, encouraging and supporting a new generation of grassroots activists who will work to help their people.

The Phan Foundation provides grants to organisations for projects that relate to our objectives. At the current time, the Phan Foundation is not able to accept unsolicited applications for funding.

The Phan Foundation is currently an Association. It is in the process of applying for charitable status. The Phan Foundation follows the rules and guidelines of the Charity Commission.
